說一下啊，不復敢說很懂，樓制主可以參考。國外的助理教授和中國的助教、講師完全不同的。一般說來，極其優秀的博士或者博士後可以獲得這個職位，一般經過5年左右便會升職到副教授，接著一般就能熬到教授。助理教授的要求很高，而且可以說是教授序列的「准產品」。他們一般能帶學生做課題和做實驗了，具有一定的職權和地位。而中國的助教和講師可以說是最低級別的了，而且混到教授的時間可以說是很長的，也不能帶學生，選拔標准比國外的助理教授低很多。
總之，助理教授可以說是「准副教授」了吧。比如郎咸平在沃頓和芝加哥都是助理教授，但是也可以說是有一定的學術水平和地位了。當然和正式的教授還是有差距的。但是，不少人認為他是助教，總是奚落他，這就不對了。

The Benjamin Peirce Fellowship position carries the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointments are for three years with a starting salary of approximately 60'600 for the 9 Month academic year. This salary usually can be augmented by teaching at the Summer School or by working on a research contract if funds are available. The teaching commitment is three half courses per year, including a one-term course on a subject of the lecturer's choice, if desired. The Benjamin Peirce Fellows are expected to take part in the usual tasks of advising students.
